Tandy Center People Mover
In 1962-63 the Leonard Brothers Department Store in Fort Worth built a subway to connect its downtown store with a parking lot along the Trinity River. The first eight cars were rebuilt from former Washington, D.C. PCC cars, while a ninth car originated as a Boston PCC. The Leonards Brothers Company was sold to the Tandy Corporation in October 1967 and the subway was closed in August 2002, four months after this photo was taken. This was car 8, built by St. Louis Car in 1939 as Capitol Transit 1200. It was rebuilt by Tandy in 1976 and scrapped in 2003.
