Amtrak train No. 1, the westbound Sunset Limited, has just arrived in New Orleans off the CSX and is seen shoving towards N.O.U.P.T. P40-8's 809 and 821 are in charge of a 9-car consist: 1187, 39007, 32017, 32037, 38047, 33002, 34069, 39952, and 31029. During the train's layover in Track Five the power will be replaced with P32-8 504 and F40PH 233. On the way out of town five American Orient Express car will be picked up on the rear of the train from Track Three. |

Inbound off the CSX this train's consist was P40 809, F40 321, 1208, 39914, 32073 California, 32039, 38015, 33025, 34057, 39954, & 31033. At New Orleans the third car, sleeper 32073 California, was set out for mechanical issues and replaced with sleeper 32105 Oregon. I would ride this train from New Orleans to Lake Charles where I would meet Lowell McManus and begin an epic road trip to Mexico. |
