BNSF 3422
Description:
Seattle is a vibrant city, alive with the buzz of industrial activity. Every time I visit, there are new opportunities to take action photos. Seattle is one of the few terminals on the BNSF where older EMD switch engines can be regularly found performing heavy switching tasks. In this shot, one of my favorite Interbay-based switchers, BNSF SW1500 3422, smokes it up as it pulls on a cut of double-stack cars at the South end of Stacy/Seattle Intermodal Gateway yards. To the left of the engine, a crew member checks his switch list. To the right is the landmark Starbucks Center clock tower. Looming at the top of the scene is the Seattle sky line accented by stereotypical PNW cloud-cover.

Description:
Eastbound KCS Shreveport, LA to Meridian, MS (NS run through) train M-SHNS-20 heads into the siding to tie down as the crew will not make it into Jackson within their Hours of Service. At this time, KCS trains are operating between Shreveport and Jackson with only one crew in a "Super Pool". A relief crew out of Jackson will retrieve this train in an hour or so. At Meridian, this trian will be handed off to the NS and will operate to Atlanta, GA as NS train No. 340. Here the train has KCS SD70ACe 4129, KCS ES44AC 4695, 137 cars, and KCS DPU SD70ACe 4116. At Meridian the rear DPU will be taken off and replaced with and ETD - NS 71190.
