Album Info: | Since February, 2014, CSX's Fairburn sorting yard has remained home to a number of 1980's GP38-2's, GP40-2's and their mates. However, some big power came to Fairburn to help the EMD 4-axles in April and May, 2017. On April 22, SD70M 4524 and ES44AC-H 3033 worked the yard. In late April, CSX sent 8800hp to Fairburn with AC444CW 482 and ES44AH 811 laying over, and again on May 19 with ET44AH 3306 and AC44CW 121 waiting on Monday to work the yard. Preparing for the Memorial Day weekend on May 25, the yard was unusually empty with CSX ET44AH 3424 and C40-8W 7682 laid over with GP40-2's 6350 and 6952. A newcomer to Fairburn, CSX SD40E-3 1705 arrived in June.In late July, CSX brought GP38-2 2770 (ex-CR 8188) to join SD40-3’s 4041 and 4078, and SD40E3 1705. CSX GP40-2 6350 had left Fairburn by then. Over Labor Day weekend, another SD40-3 4078 joined the EMD's at Fairburn. A pair of SD40-3's 4076 and 4045 were joined by SD40-2 8099 in November working local traffic. Near the end of the year, GP40-2 6918(ex-C&O) and mate 2318 take a rest from working the yard. |
