Album Info: | This was a New Year's resolution for me: Chase Delaware Lackawanna's train PT-98 across the Poconos. The train runs from Scranton to Slateford Junction on Tuesdays - Thursdays - Saturdays, leaving Scranton eastbound typically around 9:00 a.m. PT-98 meets Norfolk Southern in Slateford Junction, PA, where the engine sets exchange trains, and return back to their respective Terminii. I had the good fortune to intercept the Saturday PT-98 in Elmhurst, PA, and I was able to chase it as far as East Stroudsburg (Gravel Place) before other social commitments compelled me to give up the chase. This was a pleasant enough New Year's resolution that I may well revisit the scenic ex-DL&W mainline across Pennsylvania's Pocono Plateau. Where else could I chase six big Alco locomotives hauling a large train up and over a stretch of mountain railroad? |
